![]() I’ve played a lot of different kinds of shows. Then, I put a band together, and we started playing regional shows. I’d be playing songs I wrote and other songs, just anything to fill that time. You know, where you’ll be playing four-hour gigs. I spent my teen years growing up in bars. I played a few times at Douglas Corner Café and on Broadway, but that wasn’t entirely what I was doing. So, I never really played too much in Nashville. He saw me, and he was like, ‘Ooh! There you go, boy!’Ī post shared by JACKSON DEAN were your first shows like? But, it took me a while to figure it out. He used to do that, but he doesn’t play anything. ![]() He didn’t play anything, but he could harmonize a little bit with me. Then, I finally agreed to do it, and that was it. ![]() So, my dad heard me one night, and he said, ‘Why don’t you learn a couple of songs, and I’ll take you to an open mic night?’ For a while, I didn’t want to do it. When we were re-building it, I would sit up there and play guitar. But, it really started when our house burned to the ground. Whenever I would drive to work in the morning, I would try to sing along to the radio. My dad was heavily into country and blues music, so I have always loved music. How did you begin a career in country music? The collection, released on March 11 via Big Machine Records, features all five tracks from Dean’s EP plus five new songs. Now, Dean is out with his first full-length album entitled, Greenbroke. The five-track project proved successful, landing him a featured song on Paramount Network’s Yellowstone and Netflix’s The Ice Road soundtrack. After working on his craft in California, Dean made his way to Nashville and released his self-titled debut EP. Initially encouraged by his dad to play music, he took his father’s advice and found himself selling out bars around his hometown. With hard-to-miss gritty and soulful vocals and a sound that can only be described as “musical fusion,” Dean is moving people in ways he never could have imagined.Ī 21-year-old free-spirited country rocker from Odenton, Maryland, Dean once lived in a one-room shack in his grandfather’s backyard.
